SOS Children’s Villages Zambia and Enlight Abilities on Monday, 8th February signed an MOU aimed at establishing an overall framework for cooperation between the two organizations, for the benefit of children with disabilities and their families

Enlight Abilities aims at improving the living standard of people with disabilities through community mobilization, capacity building, advocacy and strengthening of institutions at the grass root.

Enlight Abilities Board Chairperson, Professor Gaudenzio Rossi, said his organization was very pleased to have partnered with SOS CV Zambia and looked forward to a success working relationship which will be seen through the lives transformed by the partnership.

The MoU seeks to;

-       Jointly execute the program leveraging resources together, aimed at furthering the integration of children with disabilities in society irrespective of race, creed or gender

-       Family empowerment to household income

-       To economically empower people with disabilities through work and income in eastern province

-       Capacity building for disabled people’s organizations to support their affiliated members

-       To promote the prevention of COVID-19 among people with disabilities and their families, including their communities in general

-       Holding of joint events to promote the rights of children with disabilities

-       To share narrative and financial reports and provide access to financial controls and when needed

-       Both organizations shall provide assistance together to children with disabilities that involves medical treatment, rehabilitation, appliances, education, social and activities for work and income

-       To gather robust evidence on 1) the barriers to inclusive development and 2) the success factors of the strategies to address these barriers with a special focus on children with disabilities.
