Five Million Kwacha Kafue Bridge Project Handed Over To Government.

SOS Children's Villages Zambia officially handed over the newly constructed Kafue Bridge school extension to government. First lady, Mrs. Esther Lungu officiated at the event; the school has since been renamed after her. Zamtan Community was without a secondary school hence forcing girls to cover long distances to access education.

Zamtan Community was without a secondary school hence forcing girls to cover long distances to access education. It is for this reason that SOS children's villages Zambia constructed six classrooms, one science laboratory, one home economic laboratory, computer room, an ablution block, a borehole all fully furnished with modern equipment. The New infrastructure is also includes disability friendly features.

The cost of the project is Five Million Kwacha.

Applauded SOS Children's villages for the generous work they continue to do in uplifting the standards of living for the children from vulnerable communities.

SOS Board Chairperson. Mr. Elias Mpondela indicated that the organization would continue to ensure that No child grows up alone.

 

“The project has had its own challenges during the period of implementation. With the onset of the covid-19 pandemic, some of our suppliers have faced challenges in providing all the required materials, furniture and equipment on time”. Mr. Mpondela added

 

The Board Chairperson implored other organizations and corporates to also consider investing in the primary section, which has been in existence for over 50 years now.

 

He assured that through the memorandum of understanding signed between government and SOS Children’s Villages for Kafue bridge school, the organization shall strive to ensure that it continues to provide the secondary school section with furniture and equipment as we have promised, even after you have officially opened it.
