40 years of SOS Care

"In 2023, SOS supported us in skills program with my friends, David and Eunice and we were trained in Hotel Management. Before that, I dreamed of becoming a chef but had no idea how to start. Through their support, I acquired a skills and knowledge I needed to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. Now, I'm working at the hotel and both David and Eunice are doing great in their careers too. I’m so grateful to SOS for the support and encouragement to follow our dreams".

Some children cannot stay with their families, even with additional support. When this happens, they can find a new home in SOS Children’s Villages. Here the children can build safe and lasting relationships. All the children in our care have access to education and healthcare. Wherever possible, we work closely with the children’s family of origin. If children can return to live with their families, we help them adapt to this change.
"Since I was young, I’ve wanted to help others, and SOS supported me every step of the way. After excelling in my exams, I pursued Environmental Health and gained hands-on experience through fieldwork. Now in my fourth year, I’m excited to finish and start making a difference in my community. I’m so grateful to SOS for their support."

When parents face hardships, they can sometimes struggle to give children the care they need. SOS Children’s Villages works with local partners and communities. Each family needs different support so that they can stay together. This support can include workshops on parenting and children’s rights. We also run trainings so that parents can get the skills they need to get a job or start businesses. Likewise, we ensure that children can get medical help and go to school.
"Before SOS, I struggled as an electrician with short-term contracts and barely made enough to support my family. But after joining their community program in 2019, I learned business skills and started saving, which helped my business grow. Now, my children are in school, we’ve moved into a bigger house and I’m able to provide a better life for them – I’m so grateful for everything SOS has done for us."
